My email to The Trevor Project

To whom it may concern:

I first heard of the Trevor Project in the fall of 2010.  My college roommate attempted suicide, partially because of his sexual identity in early September.  Then, the string of high profile teen suicides began.  The weight of those events actually convinced me to come out to my family and to start living my life out in the open to set a positive example and create a kinder world for the LGBT youth who would come after me.

As someone who stands behind the mission of the Trevor Project wholeheartedly, having referred many friends to its resources and donated money, I was appalled by the choice of Katy Perry as the 2012 Trevor Hero Award recipient.  She got her big break was by exploiting the gay community through faux-lesbianism aimed at making herself more alluring to straight men with “I Kissed a Girl”.  On the same album, she recorded the song “Ur So Gay” in which she used gay stereotypes to insult an ex-boyfriend, going so far as to include the phrase “I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf”.  As an LGBT youth suicide prevention group, how in the world can you justify bestowing the title of “hero” on someone who actually ADVOCATED LGBT SUICIDE???  When pressed about these things, she has never admitted that what she did negatively affected the LGBT community.

I think The Trevor Project owes a lot of people a very big explanation as to why this woman was chosen for this award and honored with such fanfare.  Beyond explanation, I believe that the organization owes the entire LGBT community an apology for compromising its values to allow someone with such an atrocious track record as an ally to be given such an award over all the other equality activists, some of whom actually belong to the LGBT community.

Sincerely (but disappointedly) yours,

—Joshua Bishop

I am very proud to be your friend, Josh.

“Ed Festus said, you two, uh, fought like some tanked-up, white-trash married couple in a trailer park.”

We are fucking getting around to watching lady Hard Core Logo (aka Trigger) at some point, too. I swear it on my life!

…jfc what a disgusting human being

Is this legit? Does anyone have the link? GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS

Today I learned that it is possible to be so angry that you literally see red.

Here’s a link to the original, in case anyone was as gobsmacked as I was and hoping this wasn’t true. Ugh.

32. Batwoman

This lesbian character was voted for almost exclusively by men. I don’t know exactly what that means.  But I’m hoping for a Marvel-DC crossover so that Tony Stark can “turn” her.  She could also have sex with Nightwing and probably still be technically considered a lesbian.

Are people shocked by James Gunn being terrible? I thought this was the oldest of old news. Check out this charming email exchange where he was told that he couldn’t use the name “That Gay Fucking Cat” for a song in some movie. His suggestions of renames include “Faggots” and “Rape is the New Black”. (And that’s not all!)

He’s always been horrible and lol edgy as fuck.

Chris talks season 3 premiere x

I could be more annoyed at the gay dudes who show up in town only to hit on/sleep with Kurt or Blaine and then disappear again, but unfortunately all my annoyance on this topic is reserved for the baby gays apparently who came to Lima at the end of the school year, enrolled in McKinley for one day to show Kurt that McKinley totally isn’t homophobic anymore, and then moved away again.
